Setting the mock-up engine aside. Degreasing, Cleaning and Painting the transmission. Aligning and installing the clutch and mating the transmission to the engine:

Making the shifter linkage, it looks weird but it works to give me the H-pattern of the 6 speed. The pivot is a bit low and exaggerates the movement at the shift knob, but I'll take shifting it like a tractor for the increased leverage.

WOW! Love the headers/hopefully mufflers! I’d be deaf with those but at this age, who cares…

Thank you. There are mufflers welded to the collectors and the turnouts are welded to body of the muffler.

It'll still be very loud, but sound better than open header.

I'm impressed by your very sanitary build techniques.

Mock assembled the chassis to make sure I'm not painting myself into a corner, address any issues now before moving forward.

Extending master cylinder pushrod lengths to get to the pedals:

Reversing the throttle cable pull direction with a bellcrank:

Stripped down the frame, hung it on a pair of engine stands as a rotisserie. Getting ready for paint.

Another idea to try. Using 1960's VW Beetle floorpans as a T-bucket floor.

The transmission tunnel is meant for GM A-body, it may also work out in the long run too

The VW pan seems like a great idea.

The VW pan looks excellent. Another option is a full sized van roof - it's a lot of almost flat sheet metal with ribs rolled in. The VW floor looks flatter though, and maybe more ribs where you need them.

3 cans of etching primer, 4 cans of sandable filler primer, 6 flapper discs, 10 sanding pads. 8 cans of black. Now not to touch it, look at it or even breathe near it for a week.

Where would one purchase those VW floor pans from for the best price? Just asking for a friend… well, maybe myself. That’s another idea for plaigerizm! Best form of compliments and all that

                            That should do the trick.

I think the order came to just over $100 for both, in all honesty if one had the sheet metal tooling you'd be further ahead cutting and bead rolling your own sheet.

Thanks Mykk. Unfortunately (or fortunately perhaps…) I don’t have the tooling to make something like that. At that cost, I couldn’t justify even considering acquiring the tools for a project like that. So, I have an option thanks to you, and certainly not crazy expensive. Keep posting your work on the floor, I’m not against copying your idea.
