  • It is interesting how I am adjusting to driving the Mustang. I was worried while we were building it that I would be afraid to drive it. Instead, I find myself taking an almost perverse pleasure in things like bugs splattering on the windshield, running out of gas, road spray, and rain. I am really embracing the fact that it is a car. It's not a pile of crap (several actually) sitting in my garage or some kind of museum piece that is too nice to drive. It is a car (finally) and I plan to use as such and enjoy the hell out of it! In fact, when we picked it up in January from the body shop, I told Bill (the body guy) that my sincere hope was that I would be back in 15-20 years for a refresh.

    • My dad has a 67 Coupe sitting in his garage that probably hasn't been driven in 10 years. Nothing worse than having to refresh your car simply because you let it sit and rot after putting a shitload of money into it.

      • it is an amazing accomplishment, that car looks better than showroom new.

I'd drive that thing every single day

I agree completely. That's why I plan to drive this as much as I can.

Did the clicking go away with the front end aligned?

Thanks. Still clicking, though not as bad as the first a-arm. We're not going to let that stop us though.

Headed out to the garage today to install trunk weather strip and undercoat the wheel wells.

                      • We did not do the rears because the front is not drying very well. Hopefully it is good by morning. We'll do the rear when we get back. Aligned the headlights, wired the electric choke and installed the console ashtray.

Also added this as I have no front plate yet.

Plate from my first Power Tour.

                          • Car's looking good! I've been busy as hell with our house. We're putting our NJ house on the market. New half bath, re sheetrock basement stairs, paint, central air and yard work. That's a problem with these old cars No one seems to know how to do an alignment. That was my fear and reason I did my own. I'm glad to see you have 2.4* +caster and not 0* like factory specs say. I've got 3.5* and 1 3/8* neg camber but my suspension is not stock. The adjustable struts are nice when you want to add more caster. They also help a lot during hard braking as the caster doesn't change from the rubber biscuits compressing unevenly on the struts. With the stock lower control arms, I wouldn't add any more caster as it will chew up the bushing pretty badly. I don't remember, did you lower the upper control arms down 1"? It makes a huge difference!

Hey Tom! I was wondering where you had gotten to. We did do the arm Drop. Hoping to tie down the battery tomorrow and hit the Tail of the Dragon on Thursday this week.

                              • Yeah, I'm hoping things will ease up a bit soon! Wednesday is open house for the realtors and our agent has an open house planned next Sunday. It should sell quickly do to the proximity to NYC. Then I can get back to working on my car.

I put a roller bearing idler arm on which seems to have eased steering effort a bit. My car was originally PS with the quicker 16:1 box
