did you reuse the stock block plate?
have you tried taking the inspection cover off to see if its grinding there or if any of the T/C bolts/studs are worn down a bit?
I had an issue with an old foxbody I put together, the bolts on the TC ground the block plate.
was the converter fully seated on the pump?
