What a giant pain in the ass - hft trailer registration

Been to the DMV twice now....

First time, stood in huge line only to find out HFT forgot to stamp the title with their name as the dealer. Go back to HFT and they stamp it. Hurray.

Go back to DMV today, stand in huge line, get the Durango registration renewed, the big trailer registered, but then the lady balks at the HFT trailer. Why? Because the stamp has the Amarillo store number, but has the corporate address in Camarillo, CA...... She says the title, since it was stamped with the CA address has to show being transferred from the corporate to the Amarillo store.....

So now, I have to go back to HFT and have them fill out some title transfer papers all because they used a stamp that did not have their local address on it.

If my receipt and the title had the same address this would have not been an issue.....

Looks like I'll be standing in line again on Monday....

What a huge pain in the ass this has been....

Your BMV and ours must use the same training facilities/personel.....

Of all the paths you take in life - make sure a few of them are dirt.

I got one and cut it up and used it for my grill. In NC you don't have to have tags on a cooker so never took it to DMV, but Trying tell the HF guys that I don't need a title was like pulling teeth I did not think they were going to let me leave to the store.

Oh yeah, the nut kicker of it all?

Trailers that weight under 4000 lbs DO NOT EVEN HAVE TITLES IN TEXAS

So essentially I have to transfer the title on something that will not have a title. W..T..F..

We have "home builts" here ... sure makes it easy. Dmv gives you a new VIN and all tax n fees are based on a reasonable cost for materials.

Hehe, it's like when I bought my $250 POS trailer in CA, hauled it to Ely (500 miles), then was told by the Nevada DMV I needed better paperwork, such as a CA title before they would register it, so I had to tow the POS 500 miles back to CA so they could do a "VIN inspection" on it, and it didn't have one any where. Fortunately right there they stuck a VIN to it, titled it and handed me PERMANENT registration plates and paperwork. Made the 500 mile drive home a little sweeter since I now had permanent plates on it from CA, with my NV address on the paperwork since NV requires registration ever year. I riveted that plate to the trailer, no sense in risking screws coming loose or thieves

So the moral of the story is, don't complain until you've hauled a $250 trailer 1500 miles to two DMV's across state lines, twice of which involved multiple hour long waits in CA DMV lines. =P
                Escaped on a technicality.

That's why AAA is worth every damn penny I pay them for this alone. I went there to title the Monte Carlo. I even got the title in less than two weeks, which is three times faster than they said I would.

Yep, in SoCal. Otherwise it's such a runaround to schedule an appointment for the DMV and have them send you packing 2 or 3 or 4 times...

It took me an hour to buy the damn little trailer from HF. I'm hoping the AAA plan works for the title and registration which I have to do here in Cali. I registered my big trailer in Arizona, it was easier.
