                DRAG WEEK™ PROPOSED CLASS RULES

                UNLIMITED CATEGORY
Unlimited is Drag Week’s most radical class with no restrictions on modifications.

One Class, Run what you Brung, Hope you Brought Enough!

The vehicle must have modifications that prevent it from running in any other Class.

                LIMITED CATEGORY

Limited is for Stock-Appearing, small-tire cars with very few class restrictions. The vehicle must have modifications that prevent it from running in Modified, Pro Street, Gasser/AFX or Street Race.
BODY May be a fenderless configuration, and may use non-OE fiberglass or composite bodies, non-OE fiberglass or composite doors, doors, bumpers, and one-piece front clips with or without fixed removable hoods, windows all but the Windshield are allowed. All bodies must maintain the OEM profile (no top chopping, and so on). Hood scoops and deck spoilers are allowed.
Chassis This may include engines setback past the stock location. Rear suspensions may use a non-stock parallel four-link, ladder bars, a conversion from IRS to solid axle, or other significant departures from the stock suspension concepts but is not mandatory.
Front Suspension May be non-bolt-in-style, non-stock straight-axle front suspension.
TIRES on the dragstrip that are no greater than 11.25 inches wide at the tread as measured installed and on the ground with a go/no-go gauge; this includes drag radials. Tire edges may not be shaved or cut to meet the 11.25-inch maximum.

CLASSES There are two classes within Limited: Power Adder and Naturally Aspirated
                MATCH BASH
Match Bash is for Retro-Style Door Slammers of the early ’60s. Body styles are restricted to ’28-’70 American cars and trucks, and Anglias. To qualify for this class, a car must have the distinct appearance of an Old-Time Gasser, Straight-Axle, or AFX/Super Stock/ Altered-wheelbase car, as agreed upon by the Drag Week Tech Committee. This includes a nose-high stance or Straight front axle conversion, a drastically altered wheelbase or radiused rear-wheel openings, retro lettering, and period-correct wheels. Match Bash entries may not have a lowered stance, billet wheels, wheels more than 16 inches in diameter, modern graphics, or modern-looking scoops, spoilers, or wings. For approval prior to the event, send photos of the car to [email protected] for prior approval if there is any question if your car fits this Class. The following are not allowed: A chassis fully constructed of round tubing, Lenco-type transmission, strut front suspension, fenderless configuration. The following are allowed: Fiberglass body components, engine setbacks, driver setback, and rectangular tubing framerails. This Class must use American engine families from ’1970-and-earlier model years. EFI may only be used on traditional stack-type injection manifolds or on traditional-appearing supercharger hats. The only power adder allowed is a non-screw-type roots supercharger.

                PRO STREET CATEGORY

                  SUPER STREET RACE
SUPER STREET RACE is for small-tire cars with bolt-on—style suspensions; this class offers fewer restrictions than Street Race. The vehicle must have modifications that prevent it from running in Street Race.
BODY Must use an all-steel OE body, roof line, quarter panels and doors. OE Corvette bodies are allowed. This Class must use stock steel floors from the firewall to the wheel tubs. Body must maintain the OE profile (no top chopping, and so on). Hood scoops and deck spoilers are allowed. Windshield must be made of safety glass, OEM Windows or replacement stock style and use stock moldings. One-piece front clips with fixed removable hoods are prohibited.
INTERIOR Must have driver and passenger seats and a fully upholstered interior with rear seat if equipped from factory with one of a close OEM style. This Class may not have a driver seat setback past the stock location.
CHASSIS Engine may not be set back past the stock firewall location. (Firewall may be smoothed and may be notched for distributor and valve cover clearance.)
FRONT SUSPENSION The front suspension may use aftermarket components, and they must bolt in place on the stock frame. Minor welding is allowed. Aftermarket front clip kits that replace the stock framerails forward of the firewall are allowed, but they must be commonly available from a recognized manufacturer and they must be designed to bolt in place on the stock frame or Unibody. Minor welding as instructed by the parts manufacturer is allowed.
                  STEERING Rack-and-pinion conversions are allowed.
REAR SUSPENSION The rear suspension must retain the stock concept: OE leaf-spring cars must use leaf springs, OE triangulated four-link cars must use triangulated four-links, OE torque-arm cars must use torque arms, and so on. The rear suspension may use aftermarket components, and they must bolt in place on the stock frame in the original pickup points. Minor welding is allowed. Bolt-in or weld-in parallel four-links or ladder bars are prohibited. Cars factory equipped with coil springs may use coilover conversions. Relocated shock and coilover mounting points are allowed and the mounts may be custom fabricated. Typical mini-tub techniques such as relocating leaf springs inboard are allowed. Weld-in rear sway bar kits are allowed. IRS-to-solid-axle conversions are not allowed. Exception: Mustang Cobras that are stock with IRS may use solid axles if stock Mustang triangulated-four-link suspension is used.

TIRES on the dragstrip that are no greater than 11.25 inches wide at the tread as measured installed and on the ground with a go/no-go gauge; this includes drag radials. Tire edges may not be shaved or cut to meet the 11.25-inch maximum.
                  DRIVETRAIN Lenco-type transmission prohibited
CLASSES There are three Modified classes based on engine displacement and induction: Small-Block Naturally Aspirated, Big-Block Naturally Aspirated no CID Limit, and Power-Adder. Naturally Aspirated classes may not use power-adders of any kind. Power-Adder classes may use nitrous, superchargers, turbochargers, propane injection, or any combination thereof. Small-Block classes are 430ci and below. Big-Block classes are 431ci and above, including Mopar/Hemi, Big-Block Chevys, Big-Block Fords, or FE Fords of any displacement. Winners’ engines may be pumped to verify displacement. The Modified Power Adder class is for engines of all displacements.

                  STREET RACE CATEGORY

Street Race is for cars with OEM bodies and frames using bolt-on performance parts, and is Drag Week’s most restricted class. It is designed as a entry level heads up Class for the common “Bolt-on style Street Car” that uses “Mail Order” or easily fabricated parts.
BODY Must use an all-steel OEM body including doors, fenders and trunk lid and bumpers. Only the hood may be aftermarket fiberglass or carbon fiber. OEM Corvette bodies are allowed. This Class must use stock type steel floors throughout the entire car. Widened or fabricated wheel tubs are allowed. Firewall must be in the stock location. Firewall may be smoothed and may be notched for distributor and valve cover clearance. Body must maintain the OEM profile (no top chopping, and so on) but may use hood scoops and deck spoilers. Windshield must be made of safety glass, OEM Windows or replacement stock style and use stock moldings.
INTERIOR Must have driver and passenger seats and a fully upholstered interior with rear seat if equipped from factory with one. This Class may not have a driver seat setback past the stock location.
CHASSIS Must use stock frame rails forward of the firewall. Engines may not be set back past the stock location. Must use the complete stock frame or subframe(s) from bumper to bumper. Subframe connectors allowed. Tubular transmission crossmembers allowed. Bolt-in tubular front crossmembers allowed. Rear frame rails may be notched for tire clearance but must remain structural as intended by the OEM manufacturer and may not be supported or reinforced by non-original Factory methods (though a custom upper shock crossmembers that span from framerail to framerail is allowed) below the floor. As a guideline, don’t notch the framerail by more than half its original width. This Class may not use a rollcage design that includes the use of a Funny Car—type protective structure around the driver.
FRONT SUSPENSION The front suspension may use aftermarket components but not replacement clips, but they must be commonly available from a recognized manufacturer, and they must bolt in place on the stock frame. Minor welding as instructed by the parts manufacturer is allowed. Aftermarket or fabricated front suspensions or front clips that replace the stock framerails forward of the firewall are prohibited. Aftermarket bolt-on front suspension, K-members. Non-stock strut front suspension conversions are not allowed. Rack-and-pinion conversions are allowed.
                  STEERING Rack-and-pinion conversions are allowed.
REAR SUSPENSION The rear suspension may use aftermarket components, and they must bolt in place on the stock frame in the original pickup points. Minor welding is allowed. Bolt-in or weld-in parallel four-links, ladder bars, non-stock watts links, non-stock wishbones, and non-stock track locators are prohibited. Panhard bars may only be used on cars factory equipped with OEM panhard bars and must be located in the stock brackets. The rear suspension must retain the stock concept: OE leaf-spring cars must use leaf springs, OE triangulated four-link cars must use triangulated four-links, OE torque-arm cars must use torque arms, and so on. Cars factory equipped with front coil springs may use front coilover conversions. Rear shocks may be relocated to clear Mini-Tub non-stock mounting points are allowed and the mounts may be custom fabricated. Typical mini-tub techniques such as relocating leaf springs and coils inboard is allowed but mounted in close to factor locations.

CLASSES There are four Street Race classes based on engine displacement and induction: Small-Block Naturally Aspirated, Small-Block Power-Adder, Big-Block Naturally Aspirated, and Big-Block Power-Adder. Naturally Aspirated classes may not use power-adders of any kind. Power-Adder classes are limited the power adders to common sized Plates by the use of one plate with one fuel and one Nitrous solenoid and a -4 line from the tank no pusher systems ( Just a example) and only air to air intercoolers and no bigger than Blah Blah sized Super Chargers or Blah Blah sized inlets on Turbos. No air to water intercoolers allowed, or any combination thereof. Small-Block classes are 430CID and below. Big-Block classes are 430 CID and above but not more than 500 CID, including The Mopar Hemi, big-block Chevys, big-block Fords, or FE Fords of any displacement. Winners’ engines will be pumped to verify displacement.

^^^^^^^^ Look to try to slow down Power adders so they are above the 8.50 by weight and limiting the power adder to a more common "Normal" Drive-in style car would have.

I think it covers about every kind of car so it matches up pretty well.

Big-Block classes are 430 CID and above but not more than 500 CID.
Need to bump that to something like 572. There are lots of BB cars out there with more than 500 cubes because it so stupidly easy these days. Heck, my slow junk is 545". That 500 limit would eliminate the very common 501, 514, 521, 545 BBF strokers.
Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.

Then you could step up to Super Street Race. I did not make "My" Rules to favor anyone, I look at the "Steet Race Class" as a entry level class for the Drive-in Cars that are more Chrome and bolt-ons.

I have a guy who I help with a 572 Stock susp. radial car that runs 8.70's N/A single 4 You could put it in a Mustang and run under the 8.50 limit.

You will notice the Super Street Race has no Big Block CI limit. Just for this reason.

Given that then the small block Street Race cu/in limit should be 400" and BB 600" to allow for the typical lower cost crate motors with an overbore e.g. a 572 with a refresh, but given the high likelyhood we won't see two Street Race classes then unlimted BB's makes sense or perhaps 650 or as an outer limit.

If there were to be Street Race and Super Street Race then I owuld suggest that street race be limted to stock wheel wells and suspension pickup points wi the leaf spring relocation rule intact. FYI my springs aren't aren't relocated so that rule isn't a Bill Fowler rule. The Bill Fowler rule is no forward progress when you need a tow off the highway dating back to DW '05.
