Remember what Archie Bunker said about Hijackers? Hand out hand guns to all passengers..... That will stop Hijacking's....

Meh, Travelling to and from Miami, FL (from Las Vegas), I didn't see or have any problems with what security measures they had. If they want me to walk through a scanner instead of sticking a finger up my ass, I'll take it! I got frisked in Miami when heading home, I was wearing loose fitting jeans and a t-shirt, no big deal.

Cracks me up on how many people are either really unsecure with themselves or have so much pride they can't deal with five seconds more hold up going to a flight in which you're likely going to wait at least a half hour to board after you get to the gate :
        Escaped on a technicality.

The other part of the proposal was that they would have the people monitoring the scanners located elsewhere in the airport so that they wouldn't be able to put the face to the image.

If you think you're safe off their reservation, you're wrong
Two bloggers received home visits from Transportation Security Administration agents Tuesday after they published a new TSA directive that revises screening procedures and puts new restrictions on passengers in the wake of a recent bombing attempt by the so-called underwear bomber. Special agents from the TSA’s Office of Inspection interrogated two U.S. bloggers, one of […]
Ah the old intimidation routine....used it many times myself. I urge everyone to "know the law" when it comes to a gray area that you deal with regularly. Sounds like the blogger had no idea what tsa could and couldn't do (not that I'm an expert) but it sounds like they bluffed him prety good.

There's a problem with "know the law" - neither you nor I know its extents.... and I'm fairly sure the Patriot Act gave them the powers they were employing...
The other problem with bluffing is that eventually they find out and there really is hell to pay because if you cannot trust authority, how do you think people will react (after having their rights trammeled) to apparent authority (such as an off-duty police officer, or a plain clothes person?)...

Not sure how the gov in Poland is structured but here in the States we're a democratic republic. Sort of the best of both worlds - and, as always, the worst. Kinda like marriage - you have the benefits and the drawbacks.

Re: Okay, the TSA is going too far.

I flew to work for two or three years, and I thank my lucky stars I haven't been on a plane now for another two years or so. Only because it meant I was not living my life at "home."

When you go through two airports every Monday morning and every Friday night for that long, it's just another commute that happens to involve the airports and flying. You actually plan in some kind of delay at security on the Friday night flight. There will be somebody going off on a vacation to somewhere and they've either never flown, or haven't flown in years, and they'll have kids and all of their too-much stuff including a dozen things that are banned and are very anxious about the whole thing and they get pissed when the TSA folks open their carry-ons and start taking things out. Like clockwork, it'll happen.

If you relax and just observe, and like was said above - it's going to be another 1-2 hours at the gate anyway, it's no big deal. If you're in the rhythm of it. Some folks are not. Poor vacationers. Lost all of their toiletries - again.

And all of that nonsense doesn't make a dang bit of difference safety-wise if the pilot is drunk or has been on duty for too long, or didn't sleep last night for whatever personal reason. It's all a leap of faith, and not always faith in the silly "system," but faith in true circumstance.

As someone who flies nationally fairly often, it really is not that bad... TSA workers are not the brightest, especially in some of the southwestern states... I'm ok with it... What makes me chuckle is that the same people who are all for the war on terror are ususally the same ones complaining about the TSA... Can't have it both ways...
