What do you do about a whole bunch of pissed off Americans? That's a powerful force. Goddammit. The whole thng just really pisses me off, aside and in addition to the victims and their families and the effect on everybody there in Boston and in the whole nation.

It just makes me mad, internally. I'm glad they got the sumbitch, the second one, but I really wished they had killed him outright. And I usually never think thoughts like that. It's not a rosy situation, but at least my emotions are capable of going the other way at times.

    Anger, over the whole situation.

Hopefully they will get some info out of him. Regretfully, he is a US citizen and as such deserves his Miranda (as well as other) rights. Slimebag. But then on the other hand, a couple of known (if not convicted) terrorist bombers are doing quite well as college professors.....as well as a treasonous woman.......honors which they do NOT deserve. Better stop before the politics seeps into this......lol. Glad they got him.

What I don't understand is of course what I don't know.

With a calmer mind, I can analyze why I'm so mad that the hundreds of cops didn't just kill the terrorist when they had the chance.

From what I think I know, and I don't really know anything, cops are trained to death to neutralize the threat. However. Neutralize it. Just stop the threat.

I'm glad I'm not a cop but I sure am glad for hundreds of reasons there ARE cops. I'm not a cop because if somebody had already bombed and killed and injured people, and shot guns at me and thrown hand grendes at me and if I had him cornered up....and had some ammunition, I'd sure kill that guy graveyard dead if I had a good shot at him. He'd no longer have a chance to surrender.

So, that must be the difference between military training and cop training, but I sure don't know, so I'm asking. The mentality. The survival thing. Why didn't the cops instinctively kill that guy, out of anger if nothng else? Legal concerns? After all of that? Why in the world take him alive?

Biggest reason is to find out if there is an active terrorist cell, I would think. He may also have ties to others in the Al Quieda (can't spell that one) network......lots of info to be gained if the lawyers don't muck it up. (which will probably be the case)

When the Feds take over things they can declare the kid's actions an act of terror and/or decide that there is imminent threat. With this done they do not have to Mirandize him. If they do this there will not be the required lawyer and thus nobody to advise him to stop talking. The Feds have done this.

As much as we might like to just take the bomber out and shoot him, the fact is that we need him if we are going to find out what precipitated all of this. It is easy to sigh a big sigh of relief with the capture of the second bomber, but it is not over yet. There could very well be more to all of this than just these two brothers. There may not be, but there may be and if there is more to it and we shoot the kid we probably would never know of the enormity of it all until it is two late.

They arrested three more people who have "relationships" with the bomber bros.

The 19 year old one, literally following the older brother. Glad there was no immediate death on that one.

There is something sad about this mental break among them, the origin. The selfishness of forgetting how lucky you are does get evil..no excuses.

Barry - a leap of faith indeed. I'm idealistic, but that's TOO idealistic. Sumbitch needed a lead transplant and the cops didn't do it. Maybe because of all the legitimate reasons posted above. I just wouldn't have had that much constraint on the street right there. I wouldn't.

I can't believe I feel this way, and am posting all of this, but......POW POW POW POW POW!!!!!! Dead terrorist.

The guy crouching next to me behind the car would say, "peewee, they told us not to shoot him."

I'd say, "Oh. Sorry, I guess I messed up."

EDIT: The morale of the story is, forgiveness is easier to get than permission.

Shooting the guy gains nothing. In fact that would have been the best case scenario for the bad guy. Get him healthy, fire up the ol' waterboard machine and make him wish you shot him. That's where the value is here.

Peewee, I can understand the anger part easily. But what's eating at me more is the "why" factor, because nothing has answered it for me. What really caused these brothers to do what they did. I want to know that. At least that. It's obvious that he isn't pro...during the early A.M. shootout when he panicked and went Grand Theft Auto, he ran over his brother. He hid in a boat on dry land miles from the water. This kid ain't a genius. I just want to know what spurned this all on in the first place.

I like Brian's idea with a Few Changes:

Movies portray Vikings funerals as the dead Viking placed in a boat, set afire and set afloat in the open seas, when in fact ranking/important Vikings were first cremated, remains placed in a urn and then buried with their boat along with some worldly items.

My recommendation is burning the body of last nights dead one In Public first and letting the Boston Sanitation Department pick up the remains on their way to the land fill (all covered by network radio and TV). Following the trial of today's muslim dirt-bag catch, burning him alive in public and placing his remains in the boat, bury this ash & boat combo in an open public place with a sign warning others that they will fill this open space if they try to repeat the acts of these two muslim dirt bags.
                            That is all - Swede

It would at least give us some kind of insight into what the hell was goin' on upstairs in his head. He might have been playing "Follow The Leader" with older brother. He might have had some motive himself. Maybe he just found the worst way to demonstrate teenage angst possible. Quite difficult to guess without some input.
