Slow up, would that be the same as speed down? What is the term for accelerating?

            Slow?

Some guy in the Studebaker Drivers Club has a 60's Vette with a Champion flathead 6 under the hood.

            THAT will split some wigs!

they had an abundance of money and an absence of taste... ah well, for every one Chevy that has a Ford motor, there's a billion Fords that are powered by Chevy

It was said that the guy already had the motor so it was "cheaper". 408 w/ a F3 it should be fast

I don't know...maybe he doesn't like cylinder head bolts, and the Ford has less of them?

Fords-into-Chevys doesn't usually work as the front sump pan hits that crossmember which is configured for a rear sump. With Corvettes through time, the engine is set back far enough rearward that isn't a problem.

I always though that Fords had the distributor where it was supposed to be, but that meant that the oil pump down there on the other end of the shaft ended up where it wasn't supposed to be.

I had 2 FJ40s with a Ford 302 (didn't do either conversion) - and that whole front-distributor thing was very annoying because water would get into the cap if there was even a hint of a mud puddle. However, it was a good motor for them because the gear ratio was 4.88 in one and 5.38 in the other - so the short stroke, big bore wasn't a disadvantage (and still got better mpg than a stock 4.11 6 cyl).... and in the 2nd one I owned, I did eventually toss the 302 but that's another story.

There isn't going to be anything slow about that car in the least.

costs twice as much to go half as fast as a chevy.... I don't care what motor you build (including Buick)

and mind-you, he pulled an LS motor to put the 302 in there... so not only did he give up speed, but also longevity

....and before you start flaming, mind-you, I'm the guy putting twin turbos on a 455; all mindful of the fact I could build a junkyard LS motor with turbos for less than it cost to do the machine work on my 455...

Generally, not a fan of the crossbreed . . . but do you think I should put a hot four-cam Ford in my rusty old Biscayne? (What would the H.A.M.B.ers think?)
