I expect a lot of the long lead publicity is because they are expecting a LOT of sticker shock for the prices they are planning on. That goes hand in hand with them building a backlog of C7s. I think they are eyeing the extreme pricing on limited run cars like the Demon and the Euro exotics. My thinking is NO WAY can a C8 be had for less than $100K and once that barrier falls $150-200K or more optioned out will be common. As a pseudo-exotic Vette's were always a bang for the buck bargain, no more as a genuine exotic. For the positioning I'm thinking of when Honda bowed the Acura NSX at $60K and the public whined even though the car was essentially a Japanese Ferrari or Lambo for a lot less money. Checking a '90 Testarossa was $161K and an F40 was $300K. You won't touch a C8 for the $55.9K that gets you into a C7. "Experts" are saying $65K, we'll see.
I remember agonizing screams in 1984 at the $21K C4. Later on Chevy claimed they lost money until they plumped up the price.

I've never experienced Diesel Lust, but if I did a Cummins Dakota would sure hit the spot. Strong Diesel, little truck seems like a great muscle truck recipe.
