One guy definitely knows it was running..... the dude that chased me down his street because I mashed the loud pedal in 2nd for a couple of seconds. It was actually the dad of one of my kid's friends. He was honking and sticking his head out the window and yelling. He was a bit angry. lol I saw my son and stopped at the park to talk to him and I think the guy realized who I was (not a stupid 16 y/o) and drove on by. I just pretended I didn't hear him honking... actually not much of a stretch with this thing running. haha
I drove back down his street the next morning on my way to work and the Mustang left black marks where I did that. I really didn't realize it was spinning the tires as I was mashed into the seat pretty good. It seem to lift the driver's side nose and squat the pass rear *pretty* hard when you get into it. May need an anti-roll bar or an air bag to even things out.Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.

First trip to the track!
It made it out there and back.... sort of. It seems to have a fuel delivery issue. It runs right along for a couple of miles then bogs down and dies. Wait a minute or two, hit the starter and it lights right off again and you're good for another couple of miles. I cleaned a GOB of stuff out of the fuel filter before I went out there. It may be clogged up again.
Ok, this is he part you are all wanting to know. I made three passes and none were clean.
First pass, nail the throttle, it spins, then pull 2nd and it gets waaaaaaay sideways. Abort to a 17.15 at 93
Second and best pass, ease into the throttle, accidentally bang it into 2nd too early, run 2nd out and then pull 3rd but it would not shift. *Finally* went into third and it went 12.83 @ 113. I think I need to adjust my shift cable.
Last pass had my best 1/8th of the night, but I got stupid down track with the shifter. Still getting used to the 'reverse' part of the reverse manual valve body. lol It went 8.15 @ 91 in the 8th.
All 60 foot's were 2.1 sec and the passes were made on plain ole 255/60-16 Kumho all season radials. haha
Oh yeah, Summit shift light does not work (stays on all the time), and the dash lights are very DIM.
Overall a successful trip. The car came home in one piece and I got a few more miles under it's belt. I had hoped to sneak it into the 11's on the street radials, but maybe next time.
haha 429
Oh yeah, I was wearing my BangShift tshirt for luck too!Last edited by BBR; June 10, 2011, 10:36 PM.Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.

I had the tank out of the car and cleaned it when I put the sump in. I think this is surface rusty stuff and maybe some weld slag, etc from the sump install. I cleaned it out after I sumped it, but I bet gasoline loosened more stuff up in there.
The first pass was ugly, ended up by the wall, then I pulled back into the groove, and rolled into the throttle. 1/8th mph was 52 and the finish was 93. lolLife is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.

my car was doing the same thing for a long time...it would run fone for a few miles than die...start and run then die...
When I pulled the tank I found the pick up screen full of rust and it had a hole in it half way up and the tank was trash....the pump was ruined because of the metal flowing thru it as well. ended up with new lines, tank, pump and carb...ran like a champ but then it started it again...I decided that fuel was getting too hot so I wrapped the lines near the headers and it never did it again...
Sees to me your on the right track with the metal/slag and such gumming up the system..curious to see what the fix is.If you can leave two black stripes from the exit of one corner to the braking zone of the next, you have enough horsepower. - Mark Donohue
