Well I have stopped buying stuff for cars I don't own. Is that a step in the right or wrong direction?

Yes, I'm a CarJunkie... How many times would YOU rebuild the same engine before getting a crate motor?

The tree falling on your cab is a great excuse to do this.

I will add more later but appease Russel...

1999 350 out of a 1 ton truck. It is a four bolt main motor. It is a bit of a mystery, my guess is the internals are good. The truck I got it out of was caved in all down the passenger side. Other than that it looked really good. I should have hooked up a starter and spun it up for a compression test but add kicked in and that never happened.

a bit of pressure washing and scraping.

New cam from Pace a GM warehouse. I wimped out cause I did not want to pony up for valve springs. $168 not a bad price.
This hydraulic roller design is used on the 383 truck and Ramjet 350.

The duration at lash point in degrees (intake/exhaust) is 288/308; duration at .050" tappet lift (intake/exhaust) is 196/206 and maximum lift with 1.5:1 rocker ratio (intake/exhaust) is 431/451. Valve lash is zero/zero and lobe centerline is 109 degrees.
                    To quote pace website
This camshaft is a great upgrade for 1996-2000 Chevy/GMC trucks equipped with the L31 Vortec 350 Engine. This cam is great for additional bottom end torque. If installed in one of these trucks, a custom computer re-program is needed.

                    cam installed and gears on.

                    Next up date/back date soon

Fantastic - Sandy may have taken you down, but she can't take you out! nasty biatch anyway - you're showing her what a determined BS'er can do - take that!

I wish I could be in Ohio in April - hopefully I'll make one of the meets later in the year. Keep on keepin on!

Engine looks great! I have never painted any of mine. Even though you have been holding out on us glad to see you have been working on it. I was worried that the BMW was going to trump this. I agree we want to know about the cab.

I wonder how far off a Dodge Dakota convertible top / mechanism would be from fitting on this thing?

Or - beat the Texas Camera man to the punch - and make it a pick up / roadster.

Sandy smashed the rust free cab on the parts truck.

The original cab is in well.... workable shape.

I am going to cut the top off the taco cab and weld on the top from the red/white cab.... eventually

This pic gives me all sorts of ideas...that front end would look killer with a aluminum bar grill that spand the whole width from fender to fender with the head lights hidden behind it....Sorry...thinking out loud...been looking at a lot of old custom rods from the 50's and
                                60's lately
