Pulling the axles to install ARP studs and gonna install the ta performance rear end cover while I'm at it.

Also, rear end fluid should not be allowed to stew overnight in the garage in your oil catch pan. It wasn't so bad when I popped it open but once left to the air it got worse. Good thing it didn't look like chocolate milk though. I'm just doing a series of things to the car while also doing the manual trans swap.

      More stuff today...

Roads? Where we're going, we don't need roads...

Powerbond SFI balancer. It's been waiting a while to go in, this was the best opportunity to do it during the swap!

Hubs are all off. Gonna take it all to my dad's shop on Saturday morning, get the ARP studs pressed in. Put it all back on and then full steam ahead on the trans swap!

Beags, has working on Furds made you forget the old-ways of doing things? You can clearly see he's got a car jack on the other side of the car - ah the memories flooding back - sliding the transmission under the car (because it and the jack/trans combo can't roll under the floor boards since the jack stands are too short), sliding the transmission onto the jack - jack sliding with the transmission, the pain of a hernia because you used your foot to hold the jack and your other foot to hold onto the floorboard to maintain grip, then pulled the transmission onto the jack (of course, it doesn't go easier because those stupid engineers put braces on the bottom of the transmission. once you've got it balanced on the jack, you then carefully tighten the jack handle to allow you to raise the jack (the transmission generally falls off about now), then you use your foot to operate the jack to get the transmission up in the air - all while sliding about on the floor trying to balance the transmission. Now is generally when the transmission defies several laws of physics and starts to move to fall off the stand.

Eventually, you get it up in the air and against the floorboard. You then crawl out from under the car and hobble into the house hoping you die soon. Your wife sees you and throws you back out because you are black from transmission fluid and dirt from the follicles of your hair to the bottom of your socks (your shoes came off when you tried to jack the transmission up).

So why, praytell, does he need a transmission jack?

No trans jack and yeah, not enough room under the car for it in the first place. Using the floor jack and then I brought it down onto the wood plank. The T56 is soo much lighter than that 4L60E though. I can at least deadlift the T-56 without busting a nut.

seriously? I have a 4L60e on the floor here, it didn't seem all that bad. The C6 seemed worse. Sorry T56, I didn't mean to call you a big fatass. lol. It looks heavier than the auto.

SBG, you forgot something... push clutch in to find out you put the throw out bearing in backwards! My story went "Get buddy to help you wedge cast iron Saginaw up to bellhousing because you don't have a floor jack. Add 90 wt. Hypoid to shoulder length hair from the late 70's."

                  Beags - lol

My brother had a SB Chevy pickup that had two dents in the window-frame of the doors.... bottom of frame, about the middle.... looked like a 2x4 had been resting on it with a huge amount of weight.... which is exactly what it was... ever dead lift a NP203 and turbo 350 into a 4x4 pickup? he used a come-along to lift it into place. I did ask him why he didn't simply use the forklift - his response "I didn't think about it." Would have been so simple too - it had a sun roof in it

All that said, with the bullet holes, bondo falling off in sheets on the side because the metal had rusted away, a couple more dents on the truck really didn't change the overall aesthetic of the truck

Pulled all of the carpet out of the car...Made $3.15 out of it in loose change. Previous owner had to have left their change in the little cubby hole in the console and not in the change holder where it should be. I guess that solves the odd rattles I had at times. Pulled the brake pedal assembly as well.

Ground on the block a little, but not enough as it was getting late. I have to shorten the driver side dowel on the block to clear the mal-wood adapter. Was about 1mm shy. Gonna go to harbor freight and buy a sawzal and go to town on the trans tunnel Monday night!

Debating on sending my steering rack in to turn one, mine is leaking and helping coat the bottom of my engine block and chassis in a nice, glossy film of CRAP!

Cut a hole in the transmission tunnel. Gotta drill out a spot for the master, slow and steady!

Waiting on my 1.25" drop springs from Strano, then the suspension gets bolted back together!

Gonna hi-jack a sec, seeing how you guys were talking about installing trannies..
I was putting one in my 77 flatbed with the tunnel out..they unbolt you know... Used the cherry picker to raise it to slide in...watching the windshield... Well. Got distracted..knew I had to just slide the tranny in... Laid on the seat to guide it in from above
CRAAAP! My weight was enuff to lower the truck windshield onto the boom... Bye windshield...

Like what you are doing to your car...

That'll keep it from rusting under there.
