Just my opinion only, but if you don't have enough know-how to reverse-engineer a car that isn't '65-'72, then either you need to learn or need to find a new hobby. There's only so many Chevelles.
    Editor-at-Large at...well, here, of course!

"Remy-Z, you've outdone yourself again, I thought a Mirada was the icing on the cake of rodding, but this Imperial is the spread of little 99-cent candy letters spelling out "EAT ME" on top of that cake."

Ah, the 2-door Dippys...stepfather had an '81, same dark blue as Bryan's(I titled-registered it for him for a while)....had Mirada wheelcovers on cop wheels. Ex-DOT car, 318 Lean-burn...wouldn't spin a tire on wet pavement, handled corners like a fat guy on a greased waterbed.

But damn, would float like a cloud on the interstate, 2-finger power steering...cold air, Dante's Inferno heater...swapped in a nice stereo... was like driving a big, comfy couch...would own another.

I use to agree with no 4 doors. But when you have kids that fight over the door seat all the time you learn to adjust. Here's a pic of the Nova I put together for under $800.00 less the wheels and it was great. Like a dummy I sold the car when my son started driving and then it got wrecked. The best part of that car was you could drive and park it anywhere and didn't care if someone bumped into it.

LOL! What we have, what we need? I know that all to well. I have enough stuff to build to last me a lifetime. Combine that with working in a restoration shop and building a new shop for myself, There's not enough time. Won't stop me from hunting though.

No quads for me (I regret buying my wagon now!) I lose enough of my "investment" upon resale with two doors.

Here is a few bad pictures of a 70 LeSabre 4 door hard top I built a number of years ago. My boys named it the "Bluick". Nothing wrong with a 4 door. Can't find a side view right now,but the chrome was bad on it,so I sand blasted the wee out of the bumpers and grill, and the bumpers were painted body color, the grills semi flat black to match the top and limo tint. The headlights had those chrome steel half eye covers on them and they got blasted and painted semi gloss black. I also blacked out around the tail lights. I put a set of old school "knuckles"' mag wheels on it. I actually caused a accident one day when a guy driving on the cross street where I was stopped @ a stop sign sideswiped a parked car looking at my Buick. Hope it was because he liked it!

I'm not saying I wouldn't drive one, but would I build one? No. When you build a car, you are using up your time, energy, and money - all of which are limited. The up front cost of buying the car is minimal compared to the overall cost. If I or my heirs ever go to sell a car that I built, I hope that it is a car that is in demand, that will sell easy, for a good price.

Take my FAST GTX as an example: http://tv1.bangshift.com/forum/showt...build-pictures

If I had started with a 4 door, I would have saved about $500 on the purchase price of the car, $1000 2dr vs. $500 4 door. If I were to sell it in it's current condition, I'm sure the 4 door would bring at least $10,000 less, if not $20,000.

So if you want cheap transportation, and aren't going to dump any $ into it, go for the 4 port. But if you are going to build it, start with a car that will be worth something when you are done.
