ok, this looks crazy--im thinking along these lines, only the
"sponsorship" decals will all be our own personal stuff--

      sollywoods speed shop

      bucket ruckus racing

      mabuhay/macadangdang motor works

      smiling devil tattoos & piercing

      slim'z rod-n-kustom

      chippenwhales towing & recovery service

and dont worry, ill make sure the motor has enough nads
to back up the race car look.

slim'z rod-n-kustom could have a nice look to it in prismatic lettering...go the full VonDutch pinstripe route...etched hula girls on the quarter windows to boot!

Just an fyi, that is not actually the correct shifter for 55-57 Chevy with bench seat. The Hurst bench seat shifter for 55-57 Chevy has a handle that is welded on not bolt on (removable). The one in the picture is the universal bench seat Hurst shifter. Probably won't make any difference on your project, but I just thought you should know. I am really digging this project. Cool to see something different than a tri5 chevy, willys coupe, chevy II. I am personally building a 57 Chevy gasser which I feel is the least popular of the three Chevys for a gasser project.

yeah, hopefully it works for me--its a 55 plymouth but i was going to run a 454 chevy
and a muncie 4spd, i bought headers for 55-57 chevy/big block too, hoping the cars are
similar enough that i can make it work.

personally i LOVE 57 chevys (my younger brother has a 56...), those fins are just so
              50's americana.........

true--up FRONT. i priced the weatherstripping for this 55 belvedere hardtop coupe
and almost sh*t my pants, its really hard to find first of all and apparently they make them
out of dragon foreskin or something--$1299, PLUS shipping ! and thats just front/rear
window seal, 1/4 glass to door glass, wind wings and trunk.

it did NOT include light /handles/etc gaskets, door felts, windlace, etc.......

so, as you said--im going to be trying a LOT of 55-57 chevy stuff to see if i can
beat it between two rocks till it works.

untill you have to replace door panels, carpet, seats, or
maybe even a floorpan because of the water leaks...
then you'll pay whatever it costs to have new weatherstripping.
                      trust me on that one.

                              • Sounds like fun!

Just had a thought...... Could you do a gasser with a Ford twin I-beam front? They're really plentiful (F0100 or Ranger, depending on width) but I realize that wouldn't give that old-timey vibe.
