What did you do on the valve timing?

Aren't turbo cars a blast when they are running correctly.

Yeah, I should have explain that part Bob. I made a TDC stopper out of an old spark, got the crank set to TDC(factory crank mark was off alittle), then set the cam to the mark, which no matter how many times I tryed, as soon as I snapped the tensioner tight, the cam would turn advancing the timimg. After turning over the engine and watching all the marks come and go ,I reset the belt with the cam spocket on the retarded side of TDC, snapped the belt tight, and it was close, not prefect, but close to right-on.

Overall I can live with everything for now. Powerband works good, even with the boost lag this relic set-up has. I hit the 6500rpm rev limit a couple of times, and it was still pulling hard with no issues so I'm just going to beat it like a rented mule for now. With the new found power, I don't think the OEM-tired clutch will hold up making that next on the to-do list, adding the SVO T-5 when it goes back together.

I will invest in a round tooth, adjustable cam sprocket belt set-up on the SVO mill. I can see where being able to move the cam timing around a degree or two would be handy.

Mounted up a quicky fuel level gauge after having guess at the level one two many times. I just touch the jumper wires to the battery and read the level than put the wires back. It works prefect....just another item I wish I kept or plan for after fully gutting the whole car. The other is the wipers, which I've realized will come in handy while Ice Racing.

Gutting a car hasnt really got me yet..theres too many gauges and things like the wipers and heater that we really need when driving..and that dash wherent THAT heavy,Jeremy ;D.Yep,you need a heater to go ice racing.

I think you have seen too many racecars from Cali ;D.

We that dont live where the sun never goes down, must make a new trend...the next trend will not be somekind of wheels or paint or stance...it will be heaters in those clean firewalls in Cali again ;D

Arild, this is the heater I was thinking about, installing it where the passenger seat is just for winter racing so I can remove it when done. I might take this idea and look around the scrap yards for a compact OEM heater box to instead.

At the 25 hour, we see guys with oil coolers on the inside of the cars with fans blowing on the driver. I thought it was odd as hell until I crewed for some one last year. 20 degrees with a blowing wind, had to be below zero with the wind chill.

Back to spectating this year, and sleeping between midnight and 6 am.

Heading out Friday afternoon with the local Corvette club, to attend a two day autocross at an old go-cart track near Lake Sacandaga in Edinburg NY, which is northwest of Albany.

Here's the only good clip I found on Youtube of the track..... Event photo's on Monday.

Well all in all it was a great trip this weekend to the autocross. This old go-cart track was quite a challenge, and to say it was bumpy would be an understatement!

I placed fourth in open mod out of 7 cars (all of which are local to the track) on Saturday, and took second on Sunday.

The car worked great, 8 runs with no problems. Thanks to Brian Siekor from the Corvette club for helping Cam run the camera to get the video.

Here are two clips from the weekend, just click on the photo for a link to the video.

Yeah, the track was like a mini-road coarse that could fit in my backyard.

If I only had a $100k for blacktop, I'd be building one just like it on the old homested asap ;D

What a unique venue. That looks like a lot of fun.

                                How many total cars?
