headers on, valve covers on, spark plugs in, dizzy cap, heater hoses on ... Swapped out water temp sensor. Eating breakfast now, in middle of oil pressure sender. Then put speedo gear, cable, wiring, plug wires, anti freeze, try starting and see what I forgot.
edit: and still do exhaust.Last edited by kyhunter89; October 13, 2012, 08:56 AM.Si vis pacem, para bellumComment

need a power steering belt, banjo fuel fitting for carb and wire fans.Si vis pacem, para bellumComment

waited five days for fuel fitting. It comes in and the threads are right but wont start but a 1/4 turn, not risking screwing carb threads up. Fans are wired for key on. I need to do the same to carb choke. Ready to get it running so I can clean the wiring up. I cant stand seeing the mess.Si vis pacem, para bellumComment

Fuel line is done. Speedo gear came in. Have the wrong housing ordered it.
Still have to make hangers.

Thanks man. I don't trust any local exhaust shops in town, figured i'd rather pay $70 and have a 50/50 chance of screwing it up than pay $200 and know it would get screwed up.
There was gravel there when I started working on the car.Si vis pacem, para bellumComment

Little tig welding and painting and I'll have my gauge panel. Will bolt up to the factory ash tray holes.

when / if you drag the driver side pipe ... I found beating the shit out of the crossmember with a 3 lb hammer was crude and effective for getting another 1.5" of clearance. There's enough side to side slop that it didn't cause any fitment problems on the frame when bolted back up, but my ears hurt for a while.Flying south, with a flock of bird dogs.Comment

I notched the crossmember. There was pictures, but seems photobucket reorganized itself.Si vis pacem, para bellumComment

right on. I was young and more energetic than smart or well financed. It worked okay for 2 1/4 pipe and long tubes.
Leaving some flex in the hangers was the thing the muffler shop did for me that I wouldn't have really thought about at the time. The motor would move around on launch, and so would the exhaust. No real leak problems... it was on old timey ugly kinda rubber hangers.Last edited by Beagle; October 25, 2012, 04:37 PM.Flying south, with a flock of bird dogs.Comment

no, it doesn't get warm enough to make the paint stick - use 500* paint for the exhaust. Close to the headers/manifolds you can use header paint...Doing it all wrong since 1966Comment
