Thanks guys. Bob wants me to pressure test it next to verify we are good (no pin holes etc) which is probably a good idea. I will have to get some 1/4 NPT plugs and make a plate to pump air into so not a big deal to do. Working night shifts for 2 months straight has sorta sucked cause its hard to catch these businesses with my work schedule. Need to get some parts coming to be able to start to move forward much more.Nick Smithberg

A mod motor swap would more than likely be cheaper than a custom dohc swap. I really would like to kick the person at ford who decided to change the bellhousing pattern between the sbf and mod.Comment

You do know that the LS head will bolt directly onto a SBF? The bore, rocker and headbolt locations are exactly the same. The only fly in the ointment is the I&E valve arrangement is different so getting a Ford cam blank with the Chevy valve arrangement is the hang up.Originally posted by Russell View PostThat's pretty! The other neat factoid about the LS is the front timing cover GM sells to convert a LS to a regular distributor and mechanical fuel pump is a SBF distributor and fuel pump fit. The LS motor is a modern SBF as I see it.Last edited by Huskinhano; May 3, 2016, 01:29 PM.TomOverdrive is overrated

There are alotta fixes where Chevy parts made something go..
As for the Ford front cover, a guy who runs LS's in derby says it must be the aftermarket one because the crank centerline is wrong from Ford..
I wouldn't know for fact.. Love my old school Chevvys.. Run hot and kick butz!
Cannot do that with Fords, but LS's seem to do fine running without water...
90% of the modifieds/open derby cars run SBC
The rest run 400 Moopars..
All the Ford bodied cars run SBC including the one that took 2nd in the last derby
1 was a SBC powered Crown Vic with a steel cradle retrofitted
2. Was a SBC powered Mark 7
3. Was a SBC POWERED 60 Ford/85 Vic hybrid..
