Ok - I'm going to attempt my first tank - for the log splitter new engine.... any other tips? I assume you're tigging this?

Do you have a preferred filler rod to sheet gauge ratio?

I use 1/16" for most everything, but it's kind of personal preference, I may still have some 3/32 laying about somewhere but I only have that stuff for mild steel (everdure).

Make sure where you're welding is surgically clean - that is especially true on tanks.

Everdure also is a great filler when you're siliconing with your MIG

Siliconing with your MIG..... hey wait, I resemble that.

Nice work on the heater box. Looks factory .

And the tank is acceptable too, I guess.

yeah, that tank is just something anyone could throw together with parts out of their recycle bin

Now I have a place to mount the fuel pressure regulator... it never ceases to amaze me how many things must be done (seemingly unrelated things) to do a job

more work done on the fuel system....Probably getting tired of the updates... ah well

I'm also no longer a stainless braided line noob...

and yes, I'm going to neck down from 3/8" to 5/16" for the return line. Short of lifting the body off the frame, or running the fuel line through the interior, there isn't a safe way of running the line without using the old line.

Nope, not getting tired of updates. That's sort of what this section is all about!

nice work indeed. It's a shame we all don't have access to a limitless supply of stainless sheet and the press/shear/brake to configure it to our every desire.

huh? you mean you all don't have a 10' shear and a 200 ton press brake in your shop? I thought everyone did

that said, if anyone needs anything, my dad loves doing piece work and UPS regularly stops at his shop....

As long as the fuel doesnt get heated up by the smaller return line, I would say its all good. If it does, build a bigger, badder engine that uses more fuel and returns less. Haha.

or always stay in the throttle "but officer, I was going too fast because I have too small of return line"

hmmm... I think that'd be a tough sell

hooked air hose to tank (regulated to 40 psi)

                        found a few bubbles

                        ready to test fit again

found the build sheet - surprise surprise, my car is a stripper

                        nice, bigger space

and I forgot to take a picture of the tank basically in place.... I strapped it up and attached angles to the sides to hold it up.... I'm making an executive decision, I'm going to strap it in place....

                        ah well,
also got the shark's mouth on

Bubba would be so proud... problem is the front isn't even close to fitting right.... ugh

Where did you get the stainless pipe fittings to tig into that tank?

My dad builds Stainless tanks for alot of High profile jobs, pulling tractors and trucks mainly here lately. I can ask him where he gets all the fittings if it's help?
