Alex Taylor Drives Her New VW Bug On Power Tour West! This Is A Fun Cali Style Car I Would Love To Own!

We’ve talked about Power Tour West on the PowerShift Podcast already but man did everyone have fun on this trip! So when Alex Taylor posted up this video from here adventures on the trip, where she drove her new to her 1962 VW Bug, we had to share it. This is a cool little car! I’ve never owned a VW but would love to have one. It is going to have to get added to the list of cars I want for sure, but I’ve got plenty of others to build at the moment. LOL. On this trip she was joined by Carly Moody as her co-pilot and these two definitely had some fun.

If you missed the build of this VW on Hot Rod Garage, go back and watch as her and Lucky did some cool stuff to it. It’s got a narrowed beam, suspension upgrades out back as well, and sits perfect. Of course polished Porsche alloys are always classic on one of these and because it is a 1960’s VW it had some rust that needed help but they did all that, swapped the engine out for a larger 1600 that they got from Newbern and Cotten and made some other changes to give it the right look and feel. There is still more to do to it, but it’s a cool ride for sure and has the right look and feel for a West Coast Power tour cruise.

Video Description:

Cruising a Cal look bug in California – it doesn’t get much better than that! This is my new 1962 VW Bug that I bought from MotorTrend after Lucky and I built it on a couple episodes of Hot Rod Garage. It’s so awesome!! While we have cruised it not he show some and dad and nick and I have all spent a few hours cursing it around the beach and locally, it had not been on very much interstate OR over some really large mountains. Not only is it a new build, but it’s also just a 1600 cc VW motor – we were asking it to do a lot when we decided to take it on Power Tour West! This is a first year event that Hot Rod / MotorTrend put on. It’s a spin on regular Power Tour that normally happens in June. We started at Irwindale, went to the Vegas Track, and finished at Pomona. Such a rad time! Join us on the trip and see how the little bug did! Thanks to @themoodyroadster for joining me on the trip!
