(Words by Charles Wickam) I have to have one of the most random youtube feeds, and insane recommendations, because I could be watching a travel vlogger riding a freight train thru central America, a young couple fixing up their home in rural Japan, or cowboy who cooks out of a chuck wagon in Oklahoma. My taste and variety have no bounds. So while surfing the YouTubes, I had a suggestion for a video about the Overcrest Rally that was recently held in northern Arkansas.
I follow another vlogger named John Ludwig, and follow his adventures, and he was talking about taking his girlfriend’s Porsche on the Overcrest Rally so maybe that’s how I came across it. In my own opinion, this has to be one of the best travel / road trip videos I have ever seen, I’m not going to spoil this, the video is about an hour long and so worth it. In the video, Andrew and his Subaru venture from the pacific northwest and travel to Arkansas for the start of the rally. His journey is epic, the scenery, the car, the trials and tribulations along with his friends, are what make this such a great story.
What’s neat with this is, actually seeing a familiar face in his video, Fred from 1320video totally surprised seeing him and see how he helps Andrew with a little mishap. I’ve never had an adventure unfold quite like this one. I pushed every step of the way to live outside my comfort zone, be in the moment and enjoy every mile. I feel as though I accomplished all that to some degree. I cannot thank everyone involved with Overcrest for organizing such a mind bendingly excellent weekend. Also thank you to all my friends for the motivation and the kick in the ass to stay on the road and keep pushing to finish the journey!
