Freiburger is about as SoCal as it gets, although folks that aren’t from California would probably think that means he’s a surfer. And while a lot of people in SoCal do surf, it’s not a requirement to live there. But other than the surfing thing, he’s about as OG SoCal as it gets. He loves the history, the local shops, the local restaurants, and lives in a really cool old part of SoCal that is arguably one of my favorite places in and around Los Angeles. And one of the cool things about David is that he knows a lot of history, and in particular the history of Southern California, and there is a lot of it to know out there. In this video he’s taking a ride in his 1968 Camaro, on his way to Pomona, for Power Tour West.
Along the way he’s going to share some history of the drag strip in Pomona, which is the oldest drag strip in the country that is still in operation. Yep, it’s true. And the history there is insane. You will be blown away when you hear all of the cool things he shares that happened in Pomona.
Watch the video and learn some cool stuff about how drag racing as we know it really came to be, and how cool some folks were to help make it happen.
