Painless Performance has a new little gizmo out that is going to save you tons of time and energy when it comes to adding gauges to your LS powered ride. Whether you are doing an LS Swap or are putting nice Autometer Gauges in your 4th Gen Camaro, this little box will save your life. By simply plugging into the factory OBD-II port for the ECU, Painless grabs the data from all the factory sensors and then send them to your new gauges. Easy peasy.
This keeps you from having to double up on sensors that your EFI already has, just to run gauges. Trust us, we’ve done it the other way before, and this will make your life much easier.
Here are all the details from Painless. Visit their website through the link below for even more info and for information on every Painless Performance product.
Easily Add Gauges to your LS Engine
If you need gauges to monitor your LS engine it just doesn’t make much sense to double up on temperature and pressure sensors when the EFI already has most of that information already. This new LS Gauge Controller from Painless Performance will save you a lot of time and wiring by using that existing data rather than having to install extra sensors on the engine. Remember, work smarter, not harder.
Painless goes right to the source, the OBD-II connecter, to gather engine data then converts those signals into values for traditional gauges. Once connected, the Controller outputs data for five different signals for corresponding electronic gauges including coolant temperature, tach, speedo, oil pressure and fuel level (factory sending unit only).
A cool feature on the Painless unit is that it connects inline on the OBD-II port meaning you could still plug in a diagnostic tuner or programmer without disconnecting the gauges. That’s a nice touch! Go to www.painlessperformance.com for more details.
I hope that’s a prototype.
Updated images look much better. Thanks!
Shouldn’t this work for most OBDII applications as the bus interface is pretty standardized for pulling this sort of information off of?
