Musclecars weren’t always the diaper-wiped, polished and pretty show cars that a lot of people equate them to now. Back when they were simply cars, they were used, abused and used some more. With full frames and strong equipment, sometimes the only difference between the cars and the trucks were a lack of a bed. This eBay listing takes the cake: it is a 2-for-1 sale that is offering up a 1969 Dodge Coronet R/T and a Chrysler Conqueror 115 boat with trailer. To say “you don’t see that too often” is an understatement and a half.
The Coronet is a dream list: 440ci V8 with a four-barrel, four-speed, Dana 60 with 4.10 gears, Ramcharger scoops, R/T package, Magnum 500 wheels, numbers matching, B5 blue with a white interior. Other than a cosmetic restoration the car is as it was…the engine hasn’t even been out of the car yet. Showing 54,000 miles on the odometer, the Coronet looks too good for towing duties, but sure enough, a NOS hitch for B-body Chryslers was located.
The Conqueror 115 included with the sale has the engine cover from a Chrysler 105 engine because the current owner liked the color scheme. The original cover comes with the purchase as well. The boat has been garage-kept all of it’s life and except for minor wear and tear in the seating surfaces and a scrape or two on the hull the boat is in great condition. The engine starts with no drama and the only major fault is that the tachometer is non-functional. The trailer is a couple of years old and has barely been used, hauling the boat when the owner takes the combination to car shows.
It’s an eye-raising combination normally, and finding a pair like this that are even decently color-matched is impressive. The current owner is adamant about selling both the Dodge and the boat as one unit and refuses to break them up, and why would you? This is a pretty neat combination and we’d like to put it to good use…like launching the boat near a beachfront car show to the horror of the California Duster crowd.

Beautiful pair.
FYI: Mopar B bodies were not full-frame cars.
D’oh. Yeah, Matt, you’re right.
” With full frames and strong equipment, sometimes the only difference between the cars and the trucks were a lack of a bed.”
So true.
HAULS ASS **
AND A BOAT !!!!!
My best friend’s brother used to tow a ski boat out to the Colorado River with a 69 Shelby GT500 Super Cobra Jet. This was in the 1970’s so we thought nothing of it. Too bad he eventually ran the car into a tree.
