I love W-body Regals with the blown 3.8L V6 in them…they are underrated and make an excellent platform for a good sleeper. And since they’re now dirt-cheap used cars, they make for a great second car or daily beater. I’ll fully attest that even in stock trim, these front-drivers will flat-out boil the front tires off in a decidedly non-Buick manner and with no tuning whatsoever hang in the low-14 second brackets at a test-and-tune night. I’m not the only one who knows this either, as this particular video shows. While wetting down the road was a bit unnecessary, for the car to sit stationary long enough to get the tires truly smoking (and to keep the car from dragging the locked-up rear end around) it served it’s purpose. There’s plenty of tire smoke, but not as much engine noise as you’d expect. Why? My only guess is that one of Steve’s friends volunteered to edit the footage for him but forgot to mention the soundtrack they would use. Either way, there’s a Buick making a breathtaking amount of tire smoke…it’s a win, right?
That is the classiest burnout I’ve seen today. Win.
Was “Maverick” behind the wheel?
I have one of these. Own it for 12 years. It really is a good car. If you are going to look at one look for a rotted out radiator support and rocker panels. Also the 3.8 is known for intake gasket leaks check that too. Otherwise a really good well built car and nice to drive.
Fun to watch, painful to listen.
I’ve got a sister car to that. Pontiac GTP same engine and trans. People really underestimate them from time to time especially with a High stall and a good tune. Running mid 13’s with a car that still knocks down good mileage for my daily
