There aren’t many places that allow any owner of a vehicle with thousands of horsepower to exercise it freely. Land speed arenas, drag strips, and monster truck venues come to mind, but there is also the mega-truck crowd to contend with. They aren’t quite the actual monster trucks as we know them today, but they are just as impressive in size, power and capability as the ones seen in stadiums. And for the most part, the drivers of mega-trucks are just a touch more insane than monster truck drivers. They will do whatever they feel like doing, be it deep-water mudding, flying, or simply providing excessive displays of horsepower to whatever audience is watching, so long as the engine is running and the truck will move. And they don’t screw around when they are out on the course, as this video will show. From low-level flight to the K5 Blazer that does wheel stands on command, this is a pretty good summary of what the mega trucks can handle.
I don’t comment as often as I’d like to, but I just wanted to drop in and say how much I appreciate your guys’ coverage of things like the mud trucks, rock bouncers, tractor pulling, and stuff that often is dismissed or ridiculed in the general gearhead community as the territory of beer-swilling rednecks. Well, okay, I might be one of those rednecks, but it’s my personal belief that no matter how you prefer to experience your horsepower, we all have a love for mechanical fun that supersedes labels. Keep up great work!
Thanks man! You know we’re as nuts for this stuff as you are. We appreciate the kind words.
