Tim Anderson, the Grand Poobah of Racepak, sent me this one last week and said ” Ok dudes, I have an engine that I just shot in the back of a pickup in Iowa that you can use for a guess the engine contest. It is …”
You didn’t really think I was going to type the answer in did you?
Take a look at this thing and get the old wheels a turning. This one is worth some cash. Well parts at least. If you can guess what this engine is, here at BangShift.com in the comments section below, you will win $150 worth of Racepak, Lakewood, or Quicktime parts. For guessing an engine!
Stop slacking, and start searching. We have faith in you!
I think it goes without saying, but if you have anything to do with this engine you are NOT eligible to win.
Indian Motorcycle engine around 1930’s
Offy
Offenhauser
I’ll go with Meyer- Drake just to be different.
DeHavillin Gypsy
NOPE!
Keep on thinking ladies and gentleman.
Early aircraft engine, possibly a Pratt & Whitney
Looks like an aircooled engine with detachable cylinders but that’s as far as I can quess!
Henderson inline 4
Lycoming IO-720 or Continental IO-720
Mid teens Packard
Ferrari.
Rolls Royce
something quite old that is air-cooled maybe an old porche or something
Kirkham
Offenhauser crankcase, without the block sitting on it.
Peugeot early 1900 racing engine
Lycoming flat 8

Looks expensive, maybe a vintage indy or sprint car engine.
Miller
cragar.
Excelsior-Henderson 4 cylinder motorcycle engine
over head cam-no pushrod tubes
looks like bevel drive
split case
Hisso Racing Engine from the 1930’s
Could it be a Menasco 4-cyl aircraft engine crankcase?
Looks like a Hispano suiza of some sort
Miller though I think it’s been said.
It looks a lot like a Hall-Scott aircraft engine from the ’30’s, however the bell housing on the back eliminates that.
So I say that it is a Hall-Scott marine engine from the early ’30’s.
Thinking Hisso Racing Motor from the 1930’s. I believe they used a Rogers & Tersinor 4 cylinder. Since the cylinders and heads are not there, hard to tell if this was maybe different generation block.
Offenhauser 97 cubic inch
Wolseley 4/50 four cylinder
Waukesha
Looks a lot like an old Minor inverted 4-cylinder aircraft engine.
Mack AC truck
Is it the engine out of the Midnight Oil Drag car??
Hispano Suiza??
Ford marine engine minus the cylinders.
Rogers & Tersinor 359.44 cu/in 4 cylinder
That is THE Helm Hisso racing engine, one of many derivatives of the Hispano Suiza.
=)
So what’s the deal, did I win anything or not?
I hole shoted you see post 23….
