Mike Thompson’s 1968 Caprice Wins Big-Block Power Adder at Drag Week

Mike Thompson’s 1968 Caprice Wins Big-Block Power Adder at Drag Week

By Day 4 of Drag Week 2009, there were just three cars left in the Big Block Power Adder class, all of them very cool. There was a ’70 Pontiac Grand Prix with a Pontiac mill on nitrous, a ’65 Nova wagon with a turbo Rat, and a huge ’68 Caprice with a nitrous Rat.

We loved them all, but we have to say that Mike Thompson’s Caprice was owning it all week long, and, by our math at BangShift.com, he just scored the win!

The car ran 9.57, 9.54, 9.86, 9.61, and 9.60 over the five days of Drag Week.

So you know, this is not the same Mike Thompson who runs a yellow S10 in Pro Street.
CORRECTION! This is the same Mike Thompson with the yellow S10. His friend Jim Bailey was driving the Caprice.
