Growing up in a racing family, with a dad that listened to the Beach Boys, Jan & Dean, and Ronnie and the Daytonas, meant that I listened to as much great surf and car music on Dad’s 4 track as pop music on the radio. Songs like 409, Shut Down, Little GTO, Dead Mans Curve, and more. But “Little GTO” has always held a special place, which is funny since we aren’t a Pontiac family. But what even funnier is the fact the Brian’s dad owns a real deal ’64 GTO. So it’s fitting.
This is the original song, on YouTube, with a cool slideshow of GTO’s to go along with the song.
Let us know what your favorite car songs are because we’d love to have suggestions for our BangShift.com Daily Tune Ups.
Reverend Horton Heat has some good ones like “Galaxie 500” and “Suicide Doors”
Thanks Chad, that is great to start up my day.
I forgot to say that I still have my Muntz Blue Light 4track and about 100 tapes.
Well I’d have to say that 409 is one of my favorites.
Any of the ’60’s car songs are cool.
the cool thing about 409 is the rumor that the motor sounds were from gary ushers ford, and were recorded outside in front of the wilsons home , urban ford legend?
