We just ran that Caption This Photo Blog Item that featured the giant turbo off of some cargo ship or something, and that made us think. We all know that the dude with a 14-71 blower is clearly badder asser than the dude with a 6-71 blower, and we all know that an 88mm turbo makes you cooler than a 76mm. Or do multiple 76’s beat the 88? Hmmmmmmm. This could get complicated.
Lets keep it simple then.
Is one big blower cooler than two turbos? Or is there a size of turbos that you have to have in order to beat a certain size of blower on the cool scale? Hmmmmm. What turbo combo can be cooler than any blower? Or is it even possible? Let us know what you think!
According to my wife (& I agree as we have both) it has to be a gilmer driven roots blower.
You cant beat the sound of a gilmer driven roots blower getting into boost.
You cant beat the instant performance of a roots getting into boost at WOT as there is no lag.
To me, what defines which is cooler is the approach employed.
For example….
I bet for everyone who likes blowers and hates turbos, I can show them a picture of a build where their mind is changed. What will continue to define cool in the future in my eyes will be the oddballs with unconventional approaches doing things that change “conventional wisdom”.
I say this because a lot of what I see out there now has become (dare I say it) boring and almost cliche.
Presentation will define coolness sometimes even above performance in the future.
Not only does it have to run hard…I HAVE TO be able to look at it and admire it.

I like both. I am not prejudiced.
Although I love turbo’s and the rush they provide when they come up on boost there is nothing as badass as the slide whistle shriek of a kenne bell cobra. That to me is the coolest
