Every Saturday morning around 9am 150-250 hot rods, muscle cars, street rods, trucks, and bike converge at the corner of Adams and Magnolia in Huntington Beach for a couple hours of hot rod heaven. Some dudes have been coming here forever and never miss a Saturday, while others only come once in a while, or are first timers. Regardless, you are welcome at Donuts Derelicts. We came a few weeks ago, and at least half of the cars here this week were different, which makes it special every time you come. The other thing that made it special this week was the fact that several BangShifters came down to meet up with me.
Jim, aka Squirrel on the forums, who’s ’57 Chevrolet Suburban was built by his hands alone over the past 30 days and then driven to Huntington Beach from Arizona, said he was coming to town and wanted to hang out. Pretty soon, Scott Liggett and Bill Fowler were in, and then it just went from there. Before I knew it there were 8 or 10 dudes from the site cruising the show, and a half dozen of us went to Woodies for breakfast afterwards. It’s an early morning, with 6 am being the time you better be parking your car or you may not get a spot. But the cool thin is you can hang out there eating donuts and drinking coffee until 8:30 and the place will clear out. Go home and still enjoy an entire Saturday!
If you are in town then you need to make sure you are there next weekend. It’s a good time had by all.
Big thanks to Jim, Bill, Scott, Carl, and Nick for hanging out all morning and grabbing breakfast. It was good. We need to do more BangShift west coast get togethers.
