The SCTA/BNI Bonneville Speedweek 2010 is well into its fourth day and the drama is heating up! The Poteet and Main Speed Demon streamliner has run as fast as 417 and is currently in the lead for the coveted Hot Rod Magazine Top Speed Trophy. Meanwhile, our boys at Spectre Performance have been as fast as 361 mph with their Cad Company powered 485 cubic inch entry and are itching for a 400-plus mph run. A swap to their 520 cubic inch Caddy is currently underway right here on the salt!
Ron Main and George Poteet have no intention of losing the Hot Rod Trophy after winning it in 2009, and vow to stay here until Friday and run for the win. They too are working on a second engine and may make the swap to a bigger engine tomorrow.
We knew you wanted to hear all the dirt and see some of this morning’s photos, so we have a gallery up already and will have more stories and photos up late tonight as well.
While the streamliners have been playing, longtime Bonneville favorites Salty Cuda, Mike Cook, and Jesel have made record qualifying runs and are in impound thashing on cars to get ready for their early morning record return runs. We’ll be here catching all the action and aren’t leaving until the last car leaves the course on Friday, so stay tuned.
