If it weren’t for the noise, I’m not sure that I could be involved with cars. Hearing the glass pack V8 bark of my uncle’s Camaro as it pulled into the driveway set the tone for a lifelong obsession, and while the heavy bass notes of a good, cammed-out V8 hold a special place inside my heart, the primal scream of a racing V8 swinging towards five-digit RPM readouts just calls to me. This isn’t a low threat…this is the sound of Hell unleashing, with artillery fire coming in at each shift. The body of the DeTomaso Pantera might say “Italian”, and rightfully so, but that noise coming out of the exhaust pipes is nothing more than pure, unadulterated, all-American anger. It’s enough to make a fan shed a tear…and loud enough for the deaf to actually hear it. Crank the volume up for this one!
