The Brits Are Back: Bentley Will Be Running Continental GT3s At The 12 Hours Of Bathurst!

Every time we see the Bentley Continental GT3 race cars, we smile…mostly because we still can’t believe that we are seeing a racing version of a two-and-a-half-ton über-luxury barge not only run, but win in the world of GT racing. It’s like watching a Ford station wagon whip ass at a Goodguys autocross…sure, your eyes saw it, but your brain is just sitting there in shock and awe at the spectacle. Bentley’s motorsports goals are quite serious and this year, they are getting an early start by sending two Continental GT3s down to Australia to compete in the 12 Hours of Bathurst race, which will be kicking off February 5th, 2016. Guy Smith, Steven Kane and Matt Bell will compose an all-Great Britain team, while in the second car Spainard Andy Soucek and Belgian Maxime Soulet will be joined by Australian V8 Supercar driver David Russell.

Brian Gush, Bentley’s Director of Motorsport, had this to say: “We return to Mount Panorama looking to get the podium result that we so narrowly missed out on last year. As with any new event for the team, we went there looking to learn as much as we could so we could go back better in year two. Our line-up is very strong and David Russell’s experience here should help us immensely, so we’re feeling quietly confident.”
