That’s right folks, yesterday at 4pm the guys from GM dropped of a brand new Red Hot 2014 ZL1 Camaro for me to beat on, errr test out, for a week. Well at 5:30 we made out first pass down the dragstrip with it at Irwindale and proceeded to beat it like it owed us money for the rest of the night! We have this car until next Thursday, and are going to drive it drive it drive it and then drive it some more. We hit the dragstrip last night, are going to Camarillo Airport for an Autocross tomorrow, and have some other testing planned as well. And each morning I’ll be doing a video update of what we did the day before.
The best part? Brian doesn’t have one. In fact, he screwed up the paperwork and instead of asking for a ZL1 got a Z71 instead. Yep, the cool Chevy pickup. Good truck, but no match for the ZL1. Or at least that’s what normal people think.
Unfortunately for Brian he thinks the Z71 can hang with the ZL1, and that in fact it is better in many ways. Well, follow us on Facebook this weekend as we are going to go back and forth with videos and challenges to see which really is the king of the hill. Will the ZL1 win this battle? I think so. Brian of course has tractor grease running through his veins so he things the truck is king. I think he’s just trying to make himself feel better.

Meanwhile, here is my first day update and a teaser of some of what you can expect on Facebook all weekend. Join us, it’s going to be great.
Beer hauling contest. Who can carry the most kegs ?
We can only assume that GM’s Intelligence Division (used to rival the CIA when I worked there in the late 60’s) has lost it’s edge. I have a wheelbarrow that I MIGHT lend one of these jokers.
Who’s buyin’ tires?
Have fun. This is a time when my “no social media” policy bites me in the butt – but not THAT hard.

You have to watch an eleven-minute “yack-yack” video just to find out from “Pajama Bottom Man” that the undoubtedly breathed-on** Government Motors’ fat dog turd only ran an 8.26 @ 90 in the 1/8th mile? YAWN. Zzzzzzz.
Must be hard to get a 4,100-pound Aussie knock-off of a WWII “pillbox” bunker to E.T.
Nice tip for car thieves that the Bearded-One is going to leave that heap out in his Cali driveway at night for a week . . . .
** You really think that Government Motors-issued press cars aren’t hand-assembled wringers (remember Jim Wanger’s 428 GTO)
Wow, NOT IMPRESSED, you sound really “sissed”, yes, sissed, off!
Are you jealous that GM loaned BangShift 2 new vehicles for testing/evaluation or that your local “iron” lot wouldn’t even allow you to take a 30-year old K-car for a test drive without leaving a cash deposit?
Maybe you could fly out from Detroit to keep an eye on the Camaro at night. That’d be cool.
Oh, a “wringer” is a water extraction device on a really old washing machine. Look across your folks’ basement, past your bed. There’s probably one there…
Who are you to piss in BangShift’s Post Toasties? You have the ear-marks for being a troll.
Nice post,Chad.
It’s not Bangshift’s fault that the portly Camaro is a ridiculous, overpriced, cartoonish dud.
BTW, my car’s a d@#n sight quicker than 8.26 in the 1/8th (for less than half of what a Holden “transformer” Camaro “ZL-Done” costs).
Lucky bastard! Nothing like beating on a car thats not yours!!!
12.7’s for a car on street tires and out of the box with no tuning or tweaking, (or twerking) that has every creature comfort, and is streetable, can’t be all bad, other than the sticker shock.
