We are glad to see race cars actually racing instead of collecting dust and sitting on the lawn at shows. They were built to run, so run ’em. The Touring Car Masters series in Australia is one most any BangShifter would be happy to watch: Australian and American cars built between 1963 and 1976 are built up for road-course racing but have leeway to make modern safety upgrades. They are then put out on track and cut loose. These aren’t parade laps that these drivers are turning. This isn’t gentlemen racing where you pass when the bloke in front of you waves you on. Nevermind that these are the kinds of cars that have been lusted over for pushing on fifty years or more, these machines do battle. They are beat on as hard as when their spiritual forefathers first took the track so many years ago. As a result, that whole adage of “that’s racing” must be addressed: competition is fierce and sometimes…well…things happen. These crashes are all from the 2015 season and while we cringe whenever we see desirable muscle hit the wall or each other, at least they are being used, and there is little doubt that they will be pieced back together and ran again.
They won’t rest until destroying every Camaro and Mustang on the planet.
I’m surprised that there are that many older ‘Rustangs’ still in existence!
Maybe they all went to Australia when new?
