eBay Find: The 1979 Cadimino. Luxury, Meet Utility, Homebuilt Ingenuity, And Open-Air Motoring!

eBay Find: The 1979 Cadimino. Luxury, Meet Utility, Homebuilt Ingenuity, And Open-Air Motoring!

We would love to have been nearby when this idea was hatched: take the nose of a 1979 Cadillac, graft it onto the back half of a stepside Chevy truck, hack the roof off, dress the interior up, and do it all on the cheap. And be sure to add on some Pontiac-sourced rally wheels, for that extra sporting flair. That’ll do the trick! The end result looks like what you see before you…dubbed the “Cadimino”, this scientific experiment gone horribly wrong is currently sitting on eBay, looking for a new home. There is a 425 Caddy mill in that dark, depressing pit of vacuum hoses somewhere and there isn’t a way to describe the interior that wouldn’t come off as just mean-spirited. The ad says that this is one of six such creations that were built in 1979. Normally we wouldn’t call the seller’s claim into question, but…yeah, we’re doing just that. If there is another step-side Cadillac out there like this one, we want documented proof, because seeing the pictures of this one is like seeing a clear photo of Bigfoot for the first time ever and realizing that the monster that has held the public’s interest for decades likes to wear stuff from Lane Bryant. Horrifying.

For once a modded Chevy that isn’t a barfmobile!

After doing such a neat job with the front end transplant why didn’t the builder keep the luxury Caddy interior?

That hideous flat black dash completely ruins the whole effect and could drop a good few dollars off the asking price – but what do I know…

I see why this person is selling this Cadimino, he realize how ugly this thing is after “crafting” two useless vehicles into one useless vehicle!

Pitiful , and to think someone spent time and money on this. I don’t know where to laugh or cry.

Oddly enough…I don’t hate it…..I kinda like it….I might even drive it….The proportions are good. Man….I don’t get it…but….I like it…..whats wrong with me?

I don’t hate the proportions of it, its the details that kill it. The interior is garbage. The raised floor is suspect, and the A pillars and windshield look sketchy. BTW that’s a Ford step side bed slapped on that poor unsuspecting Caddy. Maybe the tag should read F-w100d.
