It’s really difficult to find the words that can do justice for this 1950 Chevrolet flatbed. Classic doesn’t begin to describe it…the Advanced Design (1947-1955) era of General Motors trucks has a huge following, and it isn’t difficult to see why: the round fenders, the simple cab, and the domed hood hark back to when a truck was a tool, not a family vehicle. While a lot of people would rather have the standard bed out back, the flatbed setup is too neat to pass up, and unlike a standard Advanced Design truck that would be powered by an inline-six, this Chevrolet is a custom build. Underneath that metal is the frame and running gear of a 1970s Chevrolet, complete with a basic 350ci V8, TH400 automatic and upgrades like a 12 volt charging system, power brakes, and power steering. The seller calls it a “rat rod” but we just aren’t seeing it…to us, this is a neat old truck with the right weathered look and the hardware that would encourage us to drive the hell out of it. If you’re going to use a truck for all of your heavy lifting, shouldn’t it be something worth driving?
Isn’t a truck worthy of being the advertizement for your business worthy of some paint?
Sorry.
For that kind of money, you can pick up something reliable, comfortable to drive and insurable. That’s “Awesome”.
$ 13K for that leaky, rattly, uncomfortable conglomeration ? I’d want my business represented by something much, much better. Get Real.
Neat, I like it. I think a more work-minded driveline would be up my alley for a shop truck, but this thing is a really cool rodded-out classic.
