Too Much At The Hit? Watch This Pontiac Firehawk Go Straight For The Sky!

Yanking the wheels at launch is one thing. Realizing that you no longer see the horizon…or the time displays at the end of the track…or trees…yeah, that might be just a step too far, and that’s where Joe Hunt found himself during a no-prep race at I29 DragWay in Iowa. Joe’s Firehawk is a serious player, running an LSX with a clinical nitrous addiction, and a TH400 with a transbrake just to make sure that the black bird can get going off of the line without leaving a fine metallic dust that used to be transmission parts at the tree. And it’s good at what it does…maybe too good. Two wheels up in the air makes you a hero…all four wheels off of the ground makes your lower body muscles clench really tight as you hope and pray that the return trip down doesn’t cave in the oil pan or beat the front suspension all to hell and back!

1000hp is impressive. getting the car to launch with 1000hp with minimal wheelie using wheelie bars is impressive. 1000hp without wheelie bars riding on the back bumper and coming down to break all sort of car and human body parts that costs tons of money is not impressive and shows a low IQ in racing. just more work for the Darwin theory.
