DeWayne Mills Lays Waste To The Turbocharged Drag Radial Record: 3.79@206 MPH!

DeWayne Mills Lays Waste To The Turbocharged Drag Radial Record: 3.79@206 MPH!

The drag radial was originally meant to occupy the ground between street tires and slicks for people who didn’t want to have to drag a pair of tires with them every time they wanted to hit the track in their street/strip machine. If you had a 11-second car and wanted to drive it to the local strip, have some fun or test and tune, and drive it home, perfect. Getting a monster of a turbocharged Camaro to hook and book on those same tires to the tune of 3.79@206 miles an hour isn’t just asking a lot out of a drag radial, it’s asking physics to take a break for a moment while suspending the disbelief of every witness. It sounds implausible, but DeWayne Mills and his Camaro, dubbed the “Golden Gorilla”, made it happen at Gateway. We can’t wait to see what Mills Racing brings to Joliet at the end of the month!

The secret isn’t in the suspension. The secret is in the little black box that is wired into the ignition, fuel injection, and wastegate. “Ridin’ the dots!”
