Killer Baja Video: Ford Takes A New F-150, With Ecoboost Power, And Races It At The Baja 1000.

We’ve said it many times. The Baja 1000, like Bonneville, is an iconic event that is biblical in many ways. The locals are totally different, and the surroundings nothing alike. But the people, and the immeasurable accomplishment of beating Baja, are exactly the same as beating Bonneville. This new video from Ford highlights some of that, while showing the testing that went into the new Ecoboost engine as it ran the entire 2013 Baja 1000 wrapped in an “old” new Ford F-150. We say “old” because the staff at Ford wrapped all the technology that a new 2015 Ford F-150 possesses, in the current body style rather than letting people see what the all new 2015 Ford F-150 was going to look like since they were planning to debut the 2015 model at this week’s Detroit Auto Show.

The video is great, our pal Bud Brutsman is in it talking about the truck and its performance, and we hate him for getting to go out there an beat on stuff in the desert without us. Don’t worry, we won’t miss another one as we’re already planning for the 2014 Baja 1000 which is right after SEMA. We can’t wait.

Check out this great video below, and drool. It captures Baja, and the kick ass job the Ford guys did to actually finish the entire race in what is a mostly stock F-150. Major kudos Ford dudes!

Aluminum in cars, no problem. When you build commercial rated vehicles I for one will wait a while. When aluminum comes in contact with steel’ corrosion can happen. How many construction types have fished nails out of the cab hidden under carpets where moisture always collect? In truck beds where drainage holes seem to suck them in. What about the use of road salts and other “newer” winter deicers? I had to replace ALL of the brake lines on my ’03 Sierra along with the calipers due to corrosion. Someone else test the Ford for me, then get back to me

Notice we didn’t hear the exhaust once? Usually guys making these will let you hear the engine growl but I guess a turbo V6 just isn’t sexy…
