As Europe’s first permanent drag racing facility, Santa Pod Raceway carries the torch for big muscle and small ET’s across the pond and this year finds Santa Pod celebrating 50 years of operations. The former RAF airbase of course hosts two rounds of the FIA European Drag Racing Championship, but in between that, it serves as one of the great places to go rip your hot rod down the quarter-mile. Santa Pod hosts a number of annual events and this being a big anniversary for the track, their Dragstalgia vintage drags not only appears to have drawn a big crowd, but Box Lane Productions pulled out an absolutely stunning recap video for Santa Pod’s YouTube Channel.
There’s something for everything here: burly American muscle, freakshow European cars, all kinds of gassers, slingshot dragsters, and even Norm Wheeldon’s twin-engined “Two Much” dragster. It’s all shot and edited beautifully, making me want to get a passport stamp next year on my way to Santa Pod. Sit back and enjoy four minutes of gorgeous vintage drag-racing footage.
Awesome video. What about that yellow hot rod. Looked like he wasn’t going home with clean pants.
Video of that run…

Yeah that was Keith Freeman slamming the wall in his blown Cleveland powered 32 ford…..I’m pleased to report that Keith is OK and the rebuild is well underway!
Great video, sure looks like the Brits know how to have a good time!
Sound track was way to loud!
Great video except for the audio. Get rid of that stupud hillbilly rock music!! Give us the sounds of the cars. There is no better music ever created then the sound of a blown V8 on a full load of nitro! Appears they had the video put together by a production company who went all artsy fartsy. Typical.
Sadly that 32 Coupe didn’t manage to avoid the wall. That said, the drag racing community pulled together and he’s well on the way to having it fixed and running again!

Get that passport ready, next year is set to be awesome!
Went for the day on the Saturday, took my Dad, my wife and my 9 month old boy. Had a great time – if you’ve got a few spare hours check out all the videos on YouTube just by typing in Dragstalgia 2016, there are a fair few people who’ve posted several videos each. Check out the Outlaw Flat Four side-by-side 11-sec buses!
