This 1953 Twin Coach Mayflower Moving Van Is The Coolest Old Big Truck Ever

This 1953 Twin Coach Mayflower Moving Van Is The Coolest Old Big Truck Ever

Nothing on earth would be a cooler vintage car hauler than this thing. Nothing. We’ve never seen a Twin Coach before, but they were built by the Fageol Brothers based on a Red Diamond and Fruehauf combination of some kind. Twin Coach was the second vehicle manufacturing company started by the Fageol Brothers, and built upon their innovation in the world of buses. In fact, they were the first company to build a proper bus as we know it.

Twin Coach also built trucks like this one, along with postal trucks, and more, but are most well known for their buses. In 1955 the company was sold to Flxible and the merger used Twin Coach technology and kept the brand name going for several years before being phased out.

This particular truck is a 1953 Twin Coach Mayflower moving van from Ridgway Storage and we’re so enamored with it that we can hardly stand it. Apparently it was at the recent Turky Rod Run in Daytona Beach and drew quite a crowd. In our world, this thing gets re-powered, the suspension gets some updates, and the inside of the box is outfitted for hauling a couple race cars, parts, and tools. We would cry like babies in public at the thought of changing any of the outside patina unless it is in danger of causing structural damage.

Holy crap this is the coolest thing ever!!!

Come on! – this would have to be a motor home. A modern turbo diesel and a flat-coated original paintjob would compliment a sympathetic interior and then you could cruise all the rod runs in the whole country in ultimate style

No it’s not! There’s an even cooler one in between Catoosa and Claremore, Oklahoma at a pecan farm. I know, no pictures, it doesn’t exist. But I don’t have pictures!

Got a 65 bus with a red diamond 450 in it. Fun to cruise but more power and a tighter front-end would be nice.
