(Phoenix testing photos by Gary Nastase Photography) Years ago, John Force Racing moved from their remodeled luxury car dealership in SoCal’s Yorba Linda heading for new headquarters with the other fuel teams in Brownsberg, Indiana. Force, his daughters and Robert Hight all have residences in the area of the old shop, but since moving to the Midwest have not held many public-invited gatherings at what has become the John Force RaceStation and Museum.
On Super Bowl weekend John Force Racing completed a successful preseason test session Saturday at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park in Phoenix, with Courtney Force leading the way in Funny Car and her sister, Brittany Force, the third-quickest Top Fuel dragster driver in her Monster Energy Top Fueler.
But the JFR team as a whole was exceptionally quick at NHRA Nitro Spring Training. John Force (above) was No. 3 on the speed chart, while Robert Hight was No. 4.
Courtney Force (above) did have a stellar test, as she actually posted the three quickest elapsed times overall. In addition to a 3.804-second run Friday – which was under the national ET record – she posted two identical passes of 3.847 seconds. She’ll have an opportunity to re-set the record this weekend at Pomona Raceway.
Brittany Force made several runs in the 3.7-second bracket, showing consistency with her team led by crew chief Brian Husen and tuning consultant Alan Johnson.
With the 2017 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series season-opening Winternationals this week in Pomona, John is hosting a Meet and Greet with all four of drivers at the John Force RaceStation before the nitro qualifying begins on Friday the 10th.
The Meet and Greet will be held Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 8 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the John Force RaceStation, 22722 Old Canal Road, Yorba Linda, California 92887 – your admission is free.
Fans will have the opportunity to meet all the JFR drivers: PEAK Coolant and Motor Oil Chevrolet Camaro SS Funny Car driver John Force, Auto Club of Southern California Chevrolet Camaro SS Funny Car driver Robert Hight, Advance Auto Parts Chevrolet Camaro SS Funny Car driver Courtney Force and Monster Energy Top Fuel dragster driver Brittany Force.
An autograph session for all four drivers is scheduled from 5:30-6:30 p.m. so bring some JFR artifact or t-shirt and get it signed by your favorite driver – admission is FREE!
The JFR Museum, which is awesome in itself, holds John’s personal car and toy collection with many of his early funny car restorations and will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Outside in the parking lot is a car show, presented by Mac Speed and Custom, scheduled for 4-7 p.m. (please contact show coordinator Eric Miner for any car show questions: (714) 580-7848).
A local Girls Scouts troop will be on hand selling cookies during the event.
Also, tickets to the season-opening Circle K NHRA Winternationals at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona will be raffled off at 6:30 p.m. You must be present to win.
