When Rocco B. sent me the link to this John Deere inspired 1988 Chevrolet Standard Cab Dually, I about fell out of my chair when I saw the first photo. It’s like Brian Lohnes’ wet dream to end all wet dreams! After all, Brian has a very well known and documented addiction to all things tractor related. It’s like he was a farmer in a former life or something. Brian also likes trucks. But not ordinary trucks. Brian likes tow trucks, C60 trucks, big trucks, weird trucks. He’s not a regular pickup truck guy in the grand scheme of things. So when a John Deere inspired truck comes along it pretty well fits the bill for Brian, although we’re pretty sure his wife would be a bit less than thrilled with this big green beast being parked in the driveway.

As we said, this one is a 1988, the first year of the round body GM trucks. The dual headlights would go away, and the grille would change slightly over the 10 year run of this body style, but otherwise they pretty much stayed the same outside. Inside the dash and interior would change over the years, but again, everything swapped back and forth. These were great trucks.

This one has some interesting touches. The weights up front make me laugh, and would probably make cops cringe, although we are pretty sure they aren’t real. With the 454 and a jillion leaves in the springs out back these trucks will haul about anything, but they certainly won’t pass many gas pumps. The good thing is Brian lives in a relatively small town so he can totally drive this daily without spending much money on fuel.

I have a 1988 Chevy Dually 3500 for sale. It has 2 wheel drive, 454, AT, like new tires, trailer hitch, 5th wheel in bed, electric windows and locks. The exhaust goes out a stack, in the bed.
