Handmade Toys Rule! Check Out The Build Of This Wood-Bodied Remote-Controlled 1977 Ford Truck!

I really dig the super-detailed remote controlled vehicles that you can see a lot of on YouTube. The ultra-detailed jetliners that look like they are ready to take off from 07R at LAX, the fully functional earth movers, the semi trucks complete with a diesel soundtrack as they move, with every last light fully functional…it’s absolutely insane just how detailed these hobbyists go with what effectively are toys. It’s astounding.

But what do you do when the local hobby shop doesn’t have what you want or need to build? There are some good bodies that you can buy in molded plastic, but not every vehicle ever made is molded in plastic. In that case, you can take a cue from this guy. He’s putting together a 1977 Ford dent-side pickup remote controlled model together completely from scratch, using wood. Just wood, woodworking products, a Dremel tool for detailing, glue and more patience than a saint. Imagine the time that went into turning a plank of wood into a 1977 Ford for a moment…and the body isn’t even the only custom thing. A custom aluminum frame with axles, a transfer case, and leaf springs supports the whole vehicle.

It might be easier to just by some random R/C toy this Christmas, but trust us…it isn’t going to look or act like this scale model Ford does!
