This V8 Vega Wagon Is Cooler Than Most, We Dig The Custom Touches

This V8 Vega Wagon Is Cooler Than Most, We Dig The Custom Touches

There is something about a V8 Vega that just speaks to me. I know I’m not alone, but I know that not everyone gets them. Even fewer think the Vega wagon is worth having, but since we’re a long roof family I have to embrace the wee little Vega wagon as well. This one is extra cool, not just because it is V8 powered, but also because it has had a Pontiac Astre front facia and interior installed. Honestly I don’t really care about the interior, but the Pontiac does have a cool grille and front valance that I do dig for sure.

Here is the info from the seller:

Listed is a 1975 V8 Chevy Vega wagon with a 1975 Pontiac Astre front facia and Astre white interior. The body is in great shape no rust. Glass is all there and in good condition except the windshield is cracked. Motor and trans is out of my 1979 Malibu it’s a stock 305 V8 with a turbo 200, stock rearend. Has a new V8 radiator with electric fans and a flex fan and shroud. Headers are new Sandersons with new 2″ exhaust. Edelbrock manifold with a Holley #1850 Carb. HEI dist. Mechanical gauges and tach.
The Vega runs and stops. Just needs little to be a cool cruiser… I lost interest..your gain.
NOTE; THIS CAR IS SMOG EXEMT..IT IS A 1975. thanks.
SCAMMERS: WILL DELETE WHEN SOLD…

$5700.00 OBO

Rarely find one with a nice body. Ditch the engine/trans for a LS/4L60E setup and then it will be a fun ride! I like it!

When I bought my MGB V8 I was looking for a clean V8 Vega, looked for a reasonably priced one that the owner wasn’t insane, would of bought this one instantly if I had run across it, massive potential here.

my collaboration of friends over the years have done 2 V8 vega builds. both were hatch backs. one had a warmed over 327/muncie combo. the second was more of a”lets see what will happen” moment. stuffed a 468/powerglide in this thing, first run down the track, drivers door is a bit hard to open. second run, door does not open anymore. third run, blew the back and side glass out. driving back into the pits the car was twisted and dog-tracking so badly is wasnt even funny. Then it was funny shortly thereafter. So, with dude doing a 305 – wise choice. It will never have enough power to hurt itself and be a decent cruiser for someone – just not me. haha!

How much rust was in the car’s unibody? I have owned, modified and raced GM H-bodies (Vega, Monzas etc) for literally decades. Have never had a solid car twist on me. They were all different levels of build some mild some wild some tubbed some stick suspension. When people see my cars or hear about them I always hear stories of the ones they had or their friend had etc that popped out the windshield. Or they had to unbolt the motor mounts and raise the engine to change the plugs. LOL. – again I never had this issue, I could see it happening maybe if the mounts were weak and had allowed the engine to drop a bit. Either way this wagon appears to be a nice car. I prefer the Astre front end over the 74 -75 Vega ones.

    V8 Vega – nice concept
Stock rear end and floor pan ? not so nice …
Had the rear trailing /control arm mount rot out on one my girlfriend had …you could change lanes with the gas pedal …we sold it for $125 as it had a
solid nose . got $100 for the wheels + tires
    Add a V8 torque + power ? see the 468 ci comments

They actually did make Astre wagons, as one of my friends parents had one, and he & his bro used to drive it when they were still in high school……

Neat little car. Would be a great DD as is….however, the exhaust seems lazy to me…probably the only thing I’d change…that and a nice sound system for my daily commute….
