The name says it all: Hoonigan. Hoon. Take the car, throw away the brain, and go cut loose until you’re satisfied…or you break something…or the cops get called. That’s what it’s about. Sitting in the grass at a car show is a great way to relax with friends who have similar leanings, true. Racing turns competition into comradeship, of course. But when you simply enjoy the mechanical violence for what it is, that’s when the real fun can begin.
Look, if we said that we don’t enjoy the occasional fishtail from an intersection, or that we didn’t do the random tire fire when we’re certain that nobody was looking, we’d be lying our asses off to you and you’d call us out in half a second. We are not advocating repaving your local neighborhood streets every time you leave to go to work in the mornings, but when the moment is right and the risks are low enough, you’re damn skippy that we’re going to rip through the gears as we hit the on-ramp or that we are enjoying the looks from the “normals”, those who simply don’t understand the joy we are getting out of it all. Their loss.
For over a year now, Hoonigan has been putting out their Daily Transmissions series, which is more or less a daily blog about what’s going on at the shop. Sometimes it’s just a build, sometimes it’s the guys screwing off, but a lot of the time it’s a car and the willingness to do what you want within the confines of their lot. This is the mega-cut of one year’s worth of those scenes. Enjoy the wonderful excesses within.
