Morning Symphony: The 13B Alarm Clock! This Datsun Coupe Is A Racing Ripsaw!

A big-bore V8 has a solid thump and a deep bass note that can rattle your bones. A healthy small block screams to high RPMs and leaves you thinking of NASCARs flying by your ears at nearly 200 miles an hour. A boosted six is a tornado with a bit of a moaning noise behind it and a properly set up four-banger is a screecher of a mill. Spend enough time at the dragstrip around different types of engines and your ear tunes into what you’re hearing. You’ll pick up blower whine, turbo rush, the moment the nitrous comes into play, all of it. But if you’re near a track when a serious rotary mill pulls up, make sure your hearing protection is in, and think about covering your ears just the same. The noise will get into your eardrum and rattle around the little bones so hard that you’ll feel it in your teeth. How can two rotors and 1.3 liters of displacement sound like the hornet’s nest from Hell? Magic, apex seals holding together, boost…name it. Just make sure that you protect your hearing before you try to answer, unless you are serious about enjoying some silence.

Holy shit, fast! And what a sound

Please tell me this is quarter mile and not 1/8th…

7.70’s in the 1/8 would be on the order of 85mph. So either it’s got something horrifically wrong, or it’s 1/4mi.
