Morning Symphony: 1,700 Horsepower In One Violent Holden Torana

Morning Symphony: 1,700 Horsepower In One Violent Holden Torana

Blame it on my blood pressure medications, but I’ve felt way too calm for someone who lives and breathes around drag strips lately. I’ve watched Pro Mods visibly shake the stands, an Anglia perform a gymnastics routine following a burnout, and a Radial vs. The World car run harder than anyone else in the field and I can barely warm up. I don’t like that…when there’s power a-plenty and good runs being made, I want to be completely on the chip, not halfway awake and smiling like a Bob Ross impersonator. We aren’t looking for happy little burnout clouds…I want screaming engines, I want noise and violence, fire and flames. I want the hit at the green to punch me in the stomach, to remind me that there is more to life than a sunny afternoon in the hammock. I want cars like this violent Holden Torana to give physics the two-fingered salute as they warp the rear slicks into obedience. And I want the noise to rival the best metal concerts I’ve ever been to.

This weekend is the NMCA Bluegrass Nationals in Bowling Green, and I’m racing. I need this pick-me-up, and you need it just because. Enjoy!
