It isn’t everyday I choose to bypass the budget part of the Rough Start series. Five thousand dollars should be plenty of coin to find and fix up something that will, at the very least, make for the base of a very cool build as time goes along, if it isn’t done as it is. But sometimes, you can be flexible, if the situation is right. Sometimes you can bring yourself to dig into the pockets just a little bit more. Sometimes, that month of Ramen noodles and water flavor packets can be worth it. And this find, ladies and gentlemen, is worth it.
Here’s the ad in full…we can’t top this: “My wife named this little Blazer “Rude Awakening”. It looks docile enough, maybe has a subtle menace to it from an appearance perspective, but turn the key and children run in fear. It’s a little loud, a little brash. Let’s call this your alter ego. If you’re looking for a thrifty economical commuter, I highly recommend you look elsewhere. If you’re looking for a sinister rumble, let’s talk. It has a 1972 Chevy 454 with forged scat crank. 500 miles on the motor. B&M shifter. Comfortable bucket seats. Centerline rims with like new tires. Beautiful black paint. Definitely room for improvement on the interior but looks good as is. You will love it. Open to possible classic car trades? Definitely cash. Will respond to all intriguing offers.”
$5,500 for some of the dumbest fun you will ever have sounds like a deal to us. You thought having a TPI 350 in an S-10 Blazer was hot shit? Just wait.
worthy of exception
I’ve built 4 SBC S10s and judging by the size of those valve covers to the size of the alternator, I’d say this is one also .
After closer examination of where the perimeter bolt is inset into the rectangular box , I am wrong.
I thought that as well, until I noticed the water pump bypass hose.
Yeah that was my clue to look a little closer . Not positive that a SBC didn’t get that in some year but it did get my attention.
And now it’s gone. That was a steal of a deal.
